You Capture: Fun!

This week’s assignment, “fun”, seemed hard to find. With the stress of packing and cleaning and worrying about money, fun was far from my mind. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that we did have fun – a lot of it!

fun cupcake

On my way home from work on Friday, I grabbed a package of mini-cupcakes. Munchkin, like her mommy, loves sweets and I knew these little cupcakes were the perfect size for her. As you can see, she did enjoy them quite a bit! She also made a big mess, but that’s ok. Sometimes the most fun things are the messiest!

fun backyard

We spent Sunday afternoon working in the yard because it was such a nice day. Isabella LOVES to be outside, which I think is so awesome. She had so much fun walking back and forth on this brick, that she literally did it for about 10 minutes. That’s like an eternity in toddler time!

fun play

Playing with toys Monday evening. She has a boat in her hands and a woobie in her mouth. She couldn’t be any happier!

fun buds

Samson even joined in on the fun!  He gazed on while Isabella climbed in to her wagon. I think he was watching over her though. Sort of. Mostly because he thought she had food in her hand.

fun toys

See how much fun we had! We got all the toys out and went wild! Though, it wasn’t very much fun cleaning this all up…

There you have it – the pics for this week! Head on over to Beth’s to see what other folks are doing with this theme!

You Capture: Vibrance

I will fully admit that I did not think about the You Capture very much this week. I was busy with all kinds of stuff and shooting photos fell by the way side. Fortunately I take a lot of pictures anyway of our daily life so I had a few to choose from. The theme was “vibrance” so I chose to depict it in terms of vibrant colors.

Here is Isabella playing in her wagon. She basically filled her red wagon with blocks and then climbed inside it.

vibrance wagon

Between her orange shirt, the red wagon and blue wheels, there were lots of bright colors that made this photo stand out to me! Plus I love the look on her face!

In this one, Munchkin decided to take 2 of her juice bottles and put them in her school bus. Then she went about pushing it around the kitchen going “vroom! vroom!”

vibrance bus

Again, there is a lot of brightness with the yellow bus and colored juice cups. It’s also a clever way to transport 2 sippie cups!

So there you go. That’s my You Capture for this week! Not too terribly exciting but at least it’s something. I promise I’ll try harder next week! Smile

You Capture: Youth

This week’s theme was “youth” – not something I had to work really hard to capture, since I have an 18 month old running around my house! The harder part was in picking through all the photos!

Here is Isabella after deciding to eat mud. Her verdict? “Yucky!”

Here she is watching some “Yo Gabba Gabba”. I originally took this because she had cute little pigtails in but I ended up liking how sweet and innocent her face looked.

And finally, we can’t have youth without Samson. Although, he’s not all that young anymore. In dog years he’s the same age as me! But he still acts young. I like how ginormous he looks in this picture, and how small Isabella looks. To me this represents a big brother looking after his little sis. I think Samson would do that too if she needed help….and happened to have some food in her pocket.

That’s all I have this week. It’s been a long and stressful one – and it’s only Wednesday! Definitely looking forward to the weekend!!

You Capture: Emotions (black and white)

This week’s You Capture assignment was “emotions in black and white”. I actually had a hard time capturing something other than happy. I mean, sure, there were unhappy times during the week, but most of them weren’t exactly ideal for taking pics.

“I’m sorry you fell down and are crying sweetheart. Hold on while mommy gets her camera!”

So, I feel like I had to stretch a bit in some of these. But, hey, artistic license, right?

Excitement

Samson in full on freak out mode as we approach Doggie Day Camp. If that’s not true excitement, as he’s whining in my ear and jumping around in the back seat, than I don’t know what is.

Contentment

emotion contentment2

Isabella loves to sit in her daddy’s lap and read books. On this day, she piled blankets on CJ, then crawled in his lap with her book. It was like the epitome of contentment.

Surprised

emotion surprised2

Actually, I’m not really sure that there is an emotion to go with this one (surprise seems to be a reach), I just thought it was a really cool pic. Samson was looking out the window and Munchkin was sitting on the ledge saying “chair”! I stood over them, made a loud audible gasp and this is the response I got.

There you have it! Stayed tuned for next week’s assignment! If you want to see more takes on this theme, check out all the other great links over at Beths!

You Capture: Body Parts

I think this has been my favorite You Capture assignment yet! I decided to try and capture 2 favorite body parts from each member of my family. It was really fun to do it and I think some of these photos are my best work yet!

One thing I paid special attention to this week was lighting. I read a post on Kevinandamanda.com about finding the right light for shooting pics and I really tried to keep that in mind when composing each shot. Consequently, many of them turned out just right  in their raw form and I didn’t need to do any editing other than adding the watermark. Gotta love that!

Here we go!

First up – Samson. Two of my favorite Samson parts are his “lion” eyes and his big paws. I also love his soft fuzzy face but it doesn’t translate as well on film as it does when you’re snuggling up to it!

bodyparts paw

Wanna know something? Samson hates having his paws touched. I like to rub them and he always jerks away. Big baby.

Next – Isabella. Of course I love everything about her but this week I captured her face (particularly her big eyes and pouty little mouth) and wild hair! Poor thing inherited my hair – fine and thin. So no matter how many times we brush or comb it, her hair goes wild and does what it wants. I hope for her sake that it thickens up as it grows longer and she gets older. Mine became more manageable right about the time I graduated from college…

Her hair was doing some weird Alfalfa thing on Saturday. She woke up with this one piece sticking straight up and nothing I did would tame it. Made for a fun picture!

Finally – CJ. I have always been attracted to men with muscular arms/shoulders/chest because it makes them seem strong. I guess no matter how tough I try to be, that base part of me still needs to feel protected by my guy. CJ is certainly strong (both physically and mentally) and I’ve always loved his arms. I also love how our hands look when they’re intertwined. I remember when we were dating and I glanced down one time as we were holding hands and couldn’t tell which one was his and which one was mine. I knew then it was meant to be. Can you tell whose hand is whose?

bodyparts arm

Don’t you just want to go squeeze his arm? Well I do (and did)! And he’s not even fully flexed in this pic! Be still my heart…what can I say, my honey’s still got it!

So there you go! I hope you had as much fun looking at these pictures as I did shooting them. I’m excited to get started on next week and continue playing with light. I had forgotten how important it is and what a difference it can make!
